I love waking up on Saturday mornings, sitting on the couch and stuffing my face with bacon, sausage, pancakes, and more bacon while watching some Saturday morning cartoons; T hen taking a short after-breakfast nap before waking up again and spending the rest of the day watching college football (drinking).
Sadly, that was not even close to my morning on March 9th. It takes a lot of effort to cook
a huge breakfast (damn near impossible after spending Friday night downtown), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasn’t on, football season is over, and I have an overdue date with my Swifter and Vacuum.
Thank God for Saturday hockey matinees. The Caps are currently playing in New York against the non-satanic NY team: the Islanders.
Locker and Joe B. were chatting about the plusses and minuses (hockey pun most definitely intended) of playing day games. Locker said something along the lines of it being like practice and he liked playing afternoon games. The Caps are currently losing, probably because of my first article. Maybe they just need some coffee. Or bacon.
Well the Caps lost to the Islanders on Saturday while Sunday ended my “Caps win-when- I-attend-games” streak. This especially hurt (sucked) because it was to the Rangers. Oleksy scored his first goal, which was basically the highlight of the game for Washington. They played pretty sloppy, sans a good 5 minute offensive attack, but still, no goals went into the
net. And there were a ton of Rangers fans who actually had decent “Let’s Go Rangers” chants their goals.
However, for my boyfriend and me, the highlight of the day was skating on the ice after the game. Like…right where the players had skated 30 minutes before.
I skated with Slapshot:
Spent some time in the sin bin:
And sat on the Caps bench with
Drew (and um Hendricks, Oleksy and Ovie – you just can’t see them :-p :
It kind of made up for the loss.
In other news, the Southeast division is still basically terrible as a whole. The Pens are number #2 in the Eastern Conference, behind the Canadiens. Chicago finally lost two games, but still has a ridiculous lead over the entire league; although the Ducks are quietly catching up. Maybe the Caps should have kept Gabby?
