Katie was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Rockville, MD and is a diehard Washington Redskins, Capitals, and Nationals fan. As a Virginia Tech Alum, she is also obsessed with the Hokies and NCAA Football. As much as she loves curling up with a good book or writing stories, she also loves being outdoors. She loves riding her horse, Dee, English and Western, and also loves snowboarding, wakeboarding, four-wheeling, fishing, and talking (re: debating) about sports. Katie currently lives in Annapolis, MD with her boyfriend, one of her family’s four rescue dogs, Brandi (a pit bull mix), and a cat named George. Reed Doughty is Walking for the National Kidney Foundation
I previously wrote an article about the Redskins in which I gave a shout-out to Reed Doughty for being an awesome role model (read the article here.) For those of y’all that haven’t been following him on Facebook and/or Twitter, I’d just like to let you know that he is currently an Honorary Co-Chairman for the Northern Virginia Kidney Walk that takes place on April 21st. Doughty is getting a team together to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation and you can donate however much you would like. To make a donation to his team, head to the site HERE and support his team!
According to the Kidney Walk website, more than .81 cents of every dollar donated goes to “vital programs and services” including, but not limited to: free kidney health screenings, public awareness campaigns, and kidney disease research.
This is a wonderful cause to support (even if you can’t donate money!) and spreading the word will still make a difference. Also, it is not too late to sign up if you decide you want to actually take part in the walk. The Northern Virginia walk begins at the Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia on April 21st at 2:00pm, but there are also walks in many other areas throughout the United States!
